I was raised in Nanaimo on a diet of salty air, leafy greens, creativity, and kindness.

Influenced by coastal beauty and minimalism, I believe in health, community, and sustainability.

In 2005, I conceptualized Violet Hair Lounge as a welcoming space where clients and stylists would feel at ease. Opening in 2007, VHL spent the first eight years operating out of a cozy (bright purple) character home. In 2015, I relocated the salon to the bigger, brighter Bastion Street venue where it thrives today.

I cherish the enduring relationships that I have made while being a salon owner. With a passion for innovation, I recently developed and launched Mara Jade, a hair care line designed to solve fine hair problems that I’ve observed after over twenty years behind the chair.

Another passion of mine? Goats. I had goats as a kid, and my life aspiration is to have them again. Just like fab hair, goats deliver a hella dose of movement and sass. Funny goat photos, goat memes, and animal videos are all effective “pick-me-uppers” – so send them my way.
